Behavioral mirroring / behavioral synchrony is one activity that has shown promise for improving individual empathy (Bräuninger, 2014) and self-other awareness (Koch, Mehl, Sobanski, Sieber, & Fuch, 2015). Assignments also feature choice–requiring 5 submissions, but 7-8 topics or assignments given, etc. This allows students some more agency as well as opportunities to make up for an assignment that did not go well….

This activity is used at the beginning of the semester to allow students and professors to get to know each other in a fun and creative way. Students can use Powerpoint, Canva, and the like to create a name tag that includes goals, hobbies, and additional information that allows their classmates to get to know them better. This quick yet impact assignment lets students highlight their creativity and personalities by including pictures and graphics that represent who they are.

The following project is used for a graduate-level Organizational Behavior course to give first-semester graduate students an introduction to writing and research. The assignment is a team project and is scaffolded over the semester to give students feedback and have dedicated time to work with their team to submit a high-quality paper at the end of the semester.

Management courses such as Introductory Organizational Behavior, Training Methods, and Human Resource Development often talk about learning. Two topics in this area that often are taught are operant condition and classical conditioning. This resource highlights seven YouTube videos related to these topics and distinguishes between the two topics.
